Addiction 101

Monday 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM

This is an 8 session curriculum that includes the topics of; stop the cycle, identifying external triggers, identifying internal triggers, introducing 12 Step or mutual help activities, body chemistry and recovery, common challenges in early recovery, thinking-feeling-doing and 12 step wisdom. This provides a structured group meeting for new clients to learn about various recovery skills. This introduces clients to basic tools of recovery and aids them in stopping drug and alcohol use. Co-ed and women’s specific groups are available.

Relapse Prevention – Stages of Change

Monday 4:00 PM – 5:00 PM

This is a 12 session evidence-based curriculum based on the trans-theoretical model of change. It examines the process of change while helping client’s navigate through the various stages of pre-contemplation, contemplation, preparation, action and maintenance; from use to recovery. It is designed to help individuals develop internal motivation to make positive changes in their lives. Topics include, a day in the life, values, refusal skills, goal setting, problem solving and confidence and temptation. This group is appropriate for any stage of change.

Join Relapse Prevention – Stages of Change

Relapse Prevention

Monday 5:00 PM – 6:00 PM

This is a 12 session evidence-based curriculum. It is a comprehensive and practical guide for conducting Relapse Prevention groups but can be used in individual sessions as well. There are 12 core sessions that provide basic education regarding recovery terminology, education on substances of abuse, managing emotions, triggers, and relapse prevention. There are also 22 supplemental sessions that can be used in conjunction this the core curriculum that focus on a wide verity of treatment issues including but not limited to 12 Step, physical, social and family issues. The conceptual framework for the Living in Balance group is that addiction is a chronic, progressive, relapsing condition that involves compulsion, loss of control and continued use despite negative consequences.

Mindfulness – Relapse Prevention

Monday 5:30 PM – 6:30 PM

The Mindfulness-Based Relapse Prevention for Addictive Behaviors curriculum is an integration of standard CBT based relapse prevention treatment based on the work of Sara Brown. Mindfulness-Based Relapse Prevention is an 8 week curriculum that includes such topics as Automatic Pilot and Relapse, Awareness of Triggers and Cravings, Mindfulness in daily life, Mindfulness in high risk situations, acceptance and skillful action, seeing thoughts as thoughts, self-care and lifestyle balance, and social support.

Men’s Issues

Tuesday 5:30 PM – 7:00 PM

This is a 17-session evidence-based curriculum. The group provides a focus on healing from addiction and mental health issues via discovering one’s true self. Topics covered include self-esteem, sexism and racism, family of origin, defining self, relationships, interpersonal violence, sexuality and sexual abuse trauma, body image, meditation and relaxation. This is a gender specific group.

Recovery Steps

Wednesday 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM

This group is a 12 session evidenced-based curriculum. 12 Step Facilitation is for people who want to learn more about 12 Step programs or strengthen their current 12 Step understanding. Topics covered are: assessment, acceptance, surrender, getting active in a 12 Step program, genograms, enabling, people, places, routines, emotions, moral inventories and relationships. Individuals are encouraged to journal their recovery as well as complete some outside suggested reading.

Women’s Connection

Wednesday 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM

The Connections curriculum is a 12-session group with a focus on understanding and healing same. This curriculum includes topics such as Defining shame, shame resilience, understanding shame, influences on how we see the world, authenticity, requesting support, and sharing feelings. This curriculum is best suited for those in the contemplation and action stages of change.

Wednesday 5:00 PM – 6:00 PM

This is a 32 session curriculum with a focus on allowing clients to interact with other people in recovery, alert clients to the pitfalls of recovery and the precursors of relapse, give clients the strategies and tools to use in sustaining their recovery and to allow group members to benefit from group discussions. Co-ed and women’s specific groups are available.

This is a 20 session evidence-based curriculum. It is appropriate for individuals well into the contemplation stage of change that focuses on the development of early recovery skills for individuals that struggle with addiction. Some of the topics covered in this group are maintaining recovery, social networks and recovery, support groups in recovery, family recovery issues, effective communication styles, skills for better relationships, coping with stress, managing anger and future challenges.
